Projects

2010-2011 Goals

Capacity building
Continue Coalition capacity building and increase the visibility of the Coalition. Recruit new members, promote active and effective collaboration and communication, and contribute to expanding asset building throughout the NW region and the state.
Income Tax and EITC
Increase the number of low-income people receiving tax assistance and collecting the Earned Income Tax Credit while increasing access to public benefits and asset building products/services.
Financial Education
Increase access for low- to moderate-income families and individuals, including youth, to free, high quality financial education. Launch the Snohomish Financial Educators Network, provide financial literacy professional development training to “frontline” and relevant community agency staff, and provide financial education training to out-of-school youth.
Public Policy
Develop and promote public and lending policies for asset building such as: a public asset building summit and legislative outreach to local legislators.
Asset Ownership
Increase asset ownership among low-income families and individuals, including youth. Strengthen the Individual Development Account initiative. Establish Bank on Snohomish, launch Snohomish County Saves, and work with community agencies and Coalition members to encourage families and individuals to save and build personal wealth.
Developing a comprehensive strategy for building financial stability for people in Snohomish County is crucial for healthy communities. The Coalition has taken the lead in providing strategies and partnerships to help individuals and families maximize their potential income and self-sufficiency. By being a Coalition member, we are committing to investing in peoples' futures.
